What is the AAU?
The Amateur Athletic Union (AAU) is an amateur sports organization based in the United States. A multi-sport organization, the AAU is dedicated exclusively to the promotion and development of amateur sports and physical fitness programs.
What does "Hapa Mana" mean?
"Hapa" is the Hawaiian word for mixed. "Mana" is of Polynesian origin. It is a super natural force or power that may be ascribed to persons, spirits, or inanimate objects.
What does Hapa Mana do?
We hold free to the public multi sport camps for youth.
What is multi sport camp?
It is an athletic camp featuring many sports. Our first camp consisted of Taekwondo, Capoeira, Muy Thai, MMA, self-defense, football, basketball, ladder agility drills, and an athletic reaction class. Future camps will include soccer, volleyball, tennis, and possibly more.
Do kids play every sport?
Yes, everyone is given the opportunity to play every sport. We rotate through 30 minute or longer segments.
Does every kid have to play every sport?
Yes, all we ask is that kids give their best effort.
Do you have teams, or do you only hold camps?
Currently we hold camps to practice playing different sports. As our membership grows we plan to create Hapa Mana teams that can participate in tournaments and leagues.
How is Hapa Mana funded?
We currently receive one renewal grant for general operating expenses and some sports camp support.
All other support currently comes from business and individual donations.
